Tiny Fighters: The Story Behind One Critical Shipment

This story is about Katie Petrie, who spent nine long weeks on bedrest, holding onto hope that her twin babies would make it. Every day felt endless, filled with worry and waiting, painfully aware of exactly when her babies would reach viability. Each doctor visit, each small sign of progress, carried the weight of both fear and faith.

When the twins finally arrived, far earlier than expected, they were rushed straight to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Tiny, fragile, and fighting for every breath, their lives were placed in the hands of doctors, nurses, and the life-sustaining equipment that surrounded them. Those first days were a blur of hope and heartache, watching her babies’ tiny chests rise and fall, willing them to keep breathing, to keep fighting. Desperately trying to savor the time and burn each moment into memory, afraid it would be their last.

Those early moments remind us just how powerful our work truly is. Every shipment we handle can make it possible for hospitals and medical teams to have what they need when they need it most. Our partners at Beyond Air (BA) recently received FDA approval for the LungFit PH System, a groundbreaking technology that will help save newborn lives in NICUs across the country. This innovation provides life-giving treatment without delay, helping parents like this one see their children take their first breaths and keep breathing.

Today, those once-fragile twins are five years old. They just started kindergarten. They are healthy, happy, and full of life. That’s five years of birthdays, five years of Halloween costumes and Christmas mornings, five years of laughter, memories, and love that once hung in the balance.

This is what our work makes possible.
It’s not about boxes, numbers, or freight. It’s about families.
It’s about giving people more time, more moments, more tomorrows.
