Understanding Your Permanent Account Number (PAN)
Your Permanent Account Number (PAN) was created during American Expediting’s 2025 system upgrade. It standardizes how accounts are organized across our U.S. & Canada network.
Why Your PAN May Be New or Different
Historically, many customers had multiple accounts across multiple locations, brands, or legacy systems. The PAN simplifies this by assigning one standardized identifier across the entire AE network.
This helps ensure:
- faster order setup
- consistent billing
- national visibility across your entire footprint
- unified reporting
You May Still See Multiple Accounts
In some cases, your business legitimately requires more than one PAN—for example:
- Different legal entities
- Different billing structures
- Distinct business units or cost centers
- Locations with separate compliance or SOP requirements
These will appear clearly in the portal.
Prefer to Consolidate to a Single PAN?
If you wish to:
- combine multiple accounts
- unify billing
- streamline access to your entire footprint
we can consolidate your accounts under one PAN (as long as there are no contractual, compliance, or billing conflicts).

Where to Find Your PAN
You can find it:
- In your welcome email
- On your next invoice
- By requesting it from your Account Manager
- In the portal under Billing (where applicable)
Does my pricing change with the new PAN?
No. Your contracted rates remain in place.
The new PAN simply standardizes how your account is structured.
